Our Issues
We fight fearlessly for progressive policies
LGBTQ Equality
Marriage equality is the law of land, but the fight for LGBTQ equality in Texas isn’t over. In much of Texas today, it is totally legal to discriminate against gay and transgender people simply based on who they are. The right’s effort to discriminate against LGBTQ Texans — whether it’s under the false banner of “religious freedom” or any other guise — hasn’t let up, and neither will we.
Abortion Access
Over the last four decades, Texas lawmakers have worked to turn back the clock on a woman’s right to access abortion care in our state — injecting their beliefs into our personal decisions. We are part of a movement to that is working to ensure that every Texas woman has the ability to make her own decisions about her health and her family.
Economic Opportunity
The truth is what Texas Republicans have dubbed the “Texas Miracle” hasn’t reached many Texans. Too many working Texans have jobs that pay too little to support themselves or their families. From guaranteeing equal pay for equal work and paid family leave, to raising the minimum wage, we’re working to promote economic opportunity and mobility in our state.
Affordable Health Care
Health care is a right — every Texan deserves access to quality, affordable health coverage. Since the Affordable Care Act became law, more Texans have gained access to health coverage than ever before. But 5 million Texans still don't have insurance, which means we still have a long, long way to go.
Justice
From voting rights and redistricting to marijuana reform and immigration, the fight for justice will inevitably end up in the courts. That's #WhyCourtsMatter, and why supporting movements for justice and standing up for communities of color is central to our work for fairness and opportunity.
Immigration
Despite some politicians' convenient memory loss, immigration is at the core of America's identity. And Texas is often at the center of these policy debates. Trump’s border wall, local sanctuary city polices, travel bans, and immigrant rights – these issues directly affect Texans.
TX Legislature
Progress Texas stood with progressive lawmakers in fighting back against intolerance under the dome during the 2020 Texas Legislative Session. And with the help of grassroots activists diligently coming out in droves to rallies and protests at the Capitol and around the state, we echoed the resistance far and wide.
Resist
Texans must stand together in resistance to the hateful and dangerous agenda of Trump and the Texas GOP. There is a lot of work to do, so join the resistance today. Go to event or rally. Attend a town hall or call your representative. Your voice is needed.
Who Are We?
